Privacy Policy.
How we secure your identity, financial records, and transaction metadata in the Ordvel ecosystem.
1. Our Commitment to Privacy
Ordvel operates a hybrid financial system combining an internal wallet infrastructure (“Ordvel Pay”) with third-party payment processors like Paystack. When you make a payment, receive funds, or request a payout, we process specific financial and transactional data to ensure the security and integrity of your assets.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal information such as your name, email, and address to facilitate transactions. For sellers, we require identity documentation (KYC) to maintain our "Verified Seller" status.
- Account Basics: Name, email, phone number, and delivery addresses.
- Identity Verification: Government IDs and selfie verification for sellers and high-tier buyers.
- Usage Data: Device info, IP addresses, and browsing patterns to detect fraud and optimize the UI.
3. Financial Data & Payments
To ensure secure and traceable transactions, Ordvel maintains a sophisticated ledger system.
Transaction Audit Trail
For every transaction, we store a complete record including amounts, transaction types (payment, refund, payout), and status. We also maintain Balance Snapshots (balance before and after) to ensure transparency and accountability.
Payment Provider Ethics
Ordvel integrates with Paystack for card and bank processing. We store provider reference IDs and authorization tokens, but Ordvel does NOT store raw card details (like card numbers or CVV). All sensitive payment data is handled securely by Paystack.
4. Ordvel Pay & Escrow Logic
Ordvel Pay functions as your internal wallet. Funds used for orders are often held in a pending state under our escrow logic.
Payments are only released or finalized after successful Order Confirmation, Delivery Verification, and Quality Assurance checks. This logic is built directly into our backend to protect buyers from undelivered goods and sellers from payment fraud.
5. Seller Settlement Data
For ordvel mall sellers, we collect and process bank account numbers, bank names, and account holder names strictly for settlement and withdrawal processing. This data is encrypted and only accessible to authorized financial settlement systems within Ordvel.
6. Refund Data & Evidence
When you request a refund, we collect order references, item details, and supporting evidence (images or video). These images are stored securely and used solely for QA review and dispute resolution.
Refunds follow a strict state machine: PENDING → APPROVED → PROCESSED. We track every state change to ensure your funds are returned accurately to your Ordvel Wallet or original payment method.
7. AML & KYC Compliance
In accordance with global financial standards and Ghanaian regulations, we collect and process specific identification data to prevent money laundering and terrorism financing.
- Biometric Data: For high-tier verification, we may process selfie data to match against your government-issued ID.
- Source of Funds: For large wallet top-ups, we may require information regarding the source of funds to ensure legal compliance.
- Watchlist Screening: We cross-reference user data against international sanction lists and PEP (Politically Exposed Persons) databases.
8. Fraud & Risk Monitoring
To protect your assets, Ordvel utilizes real-time fraud detection systems that analyze metadata and behavioral patterns.
Metadata Analysis
We analyze IP addresses, device fingerprints, and geolocation data during sensitive actions (payouts, transfers, password changes) to detect account takeover attempts.
Balance Integrity
Our system performs Balance Snapshots before and after every transaction. This ensures that any technical anomaly or attempted balance manipulation is instantly flagged for investigation.
9. Security & Data Retention
We retain financial and transaction data as long as your account is active or as required by Ghanaian tax and legal audit obligations. All communications with payment providers are encrypted, and sensitive records are protected by strict access controls and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
10. Your Legal Rights
Under the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you have the right to access your transaction history, request corrections to your personal data, or request account deletion (subject to pending financial obligations or legal holds).
